Does Your Height Increase While You Sleep?

You need sleep in order to function. During sleep, your body replenishes and repairs any damage that occurred when you were awake. Sleep regulates your body’s growth and a good night’s sleep can increase your height.

Gravity is your biggest opponent to growth. The cartilage in your body that holds your bones and spine together is filled with fluid. Cartilage that has a lot of fluid is thicker and makes you taller. Unfortunately, gravity pulls on your spine and squeezes the fluid out of your cartilage. This makes your body shrink. You can overcome this type of stunted growth by getting the right type of sleep.

You can increase your height while you sleep in many ways. During the day your body releases Human Growth Hormone, called HGH. When you are asleep, your body begins to use HGH to extend and repair your bones and tissue. This growth only begins after your body had fully decompressed from the effects of the day’s gravity. Sleeping horizontally helps your bones and joints decompress and make them ready to use the HGH in your system. The more sleep you get, the better your body will use this HGH.

You can control how much your body benefits from sleep by preparing for sleep during the day. This includes the proper exercise, sleep environment, nutrition, and posture. When you exercise during the day, it prevents the natural decompression that takes place. This means you need to decompress less and can grow taller.

Your sleep environment is also a key to increasing height while you sleep. Sleeping for a long time will not necessarily mean you are getting the sleep you need to grow. You have to reach a state of deep sleep for your body to begin to grow. Deep sleep also gives your neurological system the energy it needs to function. Therefore, you must make sure that you have the right sleep environment to reach deep sleep.

You will want to make sure you sleep in a very dark room to keep your brain at rest. You will need to make sure the room is ventilated so that your body can get the oxygen it needs to grow. Try to keep your hands and feet warm because you may wake up if they are cold. You should also wear soft clothes that fit loosely. You do not want your clothes to constrict your blood flow or it might block the HGH in your system from reaching all of your body.

You have to eat right in order to get a good night’s sleep. Drinking plenty of water helps your body get rid of the toxins in your system. The amino acid tryptophan is in milk and acts like a sedative to reach deep sleep. Do not smoke of drink caffeine that will keep you awake longer. You also should not eat a very large meal at least 3 hours beforehand because your body will have to focus on digestion and not growth.

Even though your body needs sleep to thrive, it is important that you get the right amount. The average person needs about 8 to 10 hours of sleep. Your goal is to reach a deep sleep, but too much can make you lazy and gain weight. More importantly, too little sleep can have serious repercussions. To get the right amount of sleep, let your body be the alarm clock. Go to sleep early and then wake up naturally, when your mind says that body repairs and growth are complete. Try to go to bed at the same time each day, so that your mind is prepared for sleep. Finally, relax and go to sleep faster through relaxation techniques beforehand. A great exercise is to inhale deeply through your nose, hold your breath briefly, and then exhale through your nose.

Good posture is essential to having a good night’s sleep. When you have good posture your spine is better aligned and the HGH in your body can travel more freely. If you sleep on your back, try to stay as flat as possibly but with your knees slightly bent. You can use a small pillow to support your knees. When your knees are slightly bent your blood can flow better and supply your brain with oxygen and energy. It is always better to use no pillow or a small, flat pillow in this position because pillows keep your neck in an unnatural position. When you sleep on your back, keep your knees together and bent and support your neck with a very small, flat pillow. Do not sleep on your stomach as it will increase swayback and other forms of poor posture.

Your body grows during sleep. This is when you can counteract gravity. It is also when your body uses HGH to lengthen and strengthen bones. Furthermore, sleep gives you the energy and health you need to thrive during the day. If you reward your body with sleep, it will reward you with growth.
